Carta Worldwide announces new executive appointments:
- • Christopher Payne appointed to Executive Chairman

- • Brian Semkiw is retiring from his role as Chief Executive Officer
- • Rui Mendes is retiring from his role as Chief Technology Officer
- • Wayne Clarke is retiring from his role as Chief Financial Officer
Carta Worldwide announces global leadership changes to drive the next phase of business expansion. Paul Hill has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer and Peter Kaju has been appointed as Chief Financial Officer. Brian Semkiw has retired as Chief Executive Officer, Rui Mendes has retired as Chief Technology Officer and Wayne Clarke has retired as Chief Financial Officer. In conjunction with the above, Brian Semkiw, Rui Mendes and John Chisholm have resigned from the Board of Directors.
Christopher Payne has been appointed Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors.
As co-founders Mr. Semkiw and Mr. Mendes led the technology development and commercial growth of the business, which has established a track-record of client success in North America and Europe. Since it’s founding in 2007, Carta has become recognized as an innovation leader in the financial technology, banking and payments industry.
Mr. Hill brings with him a track-record of success of leading software and fin-tech businesses. Paul is currently Chairman of PathFactory, and past Chairman of Verafin, a fin-tech market leader. Recently, Paul was CEO of DisclosureNet, which was acquired by Certent in 2016. Prior to DisclosureNet, Paul was COO of Clarity Systems. Paul lead IBM’s Performance Management division after the sale of Clarity Systems to IBM in 2010. In the 1990s, Paul was on the senior executive team of Cognos (IBM), the world leader in Business Intelligence software.
Peter Kaju has been a technology sector CFO for much of his 25+ year career. He has worked with both public and private companies through RTO, M+A and has been directly involved with the strategic sales/exits of a number of businesses. Most recently, Peter was the CFO of DAC Group, a leading digital performance marketing agency. Prior to DAC Group, Peter was the CFO and co-founder of DisclosureNet which was acquired by Certent in 2016. Prior to DisclosureNet, Peter was the CFO of Embanet (eLearning) which was sold to strategic investors at a high multiple. Peter’s foundational years were built with global companies including KPMG, Roche, Warner Lambert Pfizer and Bell.
